What is the Market on the Strip?

The Market on the Strip is a neighborhood market in the Oak Lawn LGBTQ area dedicated to giving small businesses a chance to thrive. We want every vendor of ours to be successful at our events and we do our best to ensure that's what happens. Without successful vendors, there is no market.

We welcome everyone who believes in love and equality, whether you are part of the community, an ally, or anywhere in between. We do not tolerate hate or bullying in our market, and appropriate actions will be taken if anyone threatens this environment.

Eldea Tutors was built on a simple idea: students learn better when they don't feel alone - and families deserve support that's effective, flexible, and affordable.
Traditional tutoring often comes with three major pain points: it's expensive for parents, it restricts learning to short, scheduled sessions for students, and it often creates inconsistent, unpredictable pay for tutors.

Frequently Asked Questions for Vendors

Like any market, foot traffic varies week to week. On average, we see between 350–450 visitors per market.

 • Outdoor 10x10 space: $80
Tents and weights are required.
    • Indoor 6x6 space (inside S4): $50
Only available when the market is moved indoors

Electricity is available upon request. Tables and chairs are required.

No, we do not allow MLM vendors.

We carefully review every application to ensure the best mix of vendors. Sometimes a category is already full, or we feel a product may not be the right fit for our market based on what shoppers typically gravitate toward. Our goal is for every vendor to have the best chance at success.

We limit the number of vendors in certain categories since we are a smaller market. We also do our best to make sure vendors offer unique products. In some cases, we may ask a vendor to hold back specific items if another vendor already offers them.

We welcome everyone who believes in love, equality, and inclusion—whether you are a member of the LGBTQ+ community, an ally, or anywhere in between. What we do not tolerate is hate or bullying; appropriate action will be taken to ensure our market remains a safe and welcoming space.

Results vary from vendor to vendor, as with any market. Some do very well, while others may not. Many factors influence success, and while we can’t guarantee specific outcomes, we work to create the best environment possible for vendors and shoppers alike.

We take a short break in January and February. During extreme weather (very hot summers or cold winters), we move inside S4, with a lower booth fee to help support our vendors.

You are allowed to begin setting up after 11:30am and only once we've marked the spots. You cannot setup before that time or before the spots are marked.

We will not be able to have any electricity. We also cannot allow any gas-powered generators. You, however, may bring anything battery-operated, of course, as well as power banks.
